Stay Tuned! More Warriors Will Be Coming Soon.
What sets Aiden apart is he’s one of only two children in the United States to be diagnosed with the adult form of pancreatic adenocarcinoma, a cancer of the pancreas.
Aiden’s journey from dek hockey games to rounds of chemotherapy began in October when he had an upset stomach, later to find a tumor on the CT. The only other known case was detected in a 13-year-old girl, so there were no protocols developed for its treatment.
Doctors at both UPMC children’s and Presbyterian worked together to develop a comprehensive plan for Aiden to beat this grueling disease. He has three eight-hour chemotherapy sessions over three days every two week, with the plan to see if the chemotherapy can shrink the tumor on his pancreas until the next part of the treatment, which will be surgery to remove his pancreas, part of his liver and the lymph nodes surrounding the pancreas. Even in a best-case scenario, the surgery will mean Aiden will be a diabetic and must take insulin for the rest of his life. Some of our board had the opportunity to his family and present them with a check and gifts for Aiden to ease the burden just a bit. This is just the beginning of our support of Aiden.
We have a bold vision that one day, childhood cancer will be no more, but until then- we will continue to stand by families like Aiden’s- and offer any support we can. If you feel led to support us in our mission, you to make a financial contribution that enables us to do our part in helping others.
