As a result generosity from our volunteers and donors No Child Fights Alone fully covered the gifts of 12 children during this holiday season, ensuring that these families and children have the financial and moral support they deserve.
Each gift was a symbol of hope and resilience. Additionally, these efforts extend beyond just gift-giving. It's about fostering a sense of community and solidarity among families facing similar challenges and letting them know that they are not alone in their journey and that we are here to support and uplift them.
As we reflect on the impact of our holiday outreach, we are reminded of the power of compassion and the incredible things that can be achieved when we come together for a common cause. It is through acts of kindness, big and small, that we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
In the midst of a war, Ukraine is also facing an insulin shortage, and juvenile diabetics and their families have begun to ration insulin. Without sufficient insulin, diabetics can become sick, dehydrated, and their organs are at risk of failure. This can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis, also known as DKA, which can be fatal or deadly.
In addition, disruption to food availability is putting individuals at risk of hypoglycemia, and disruption to infrastructure and utilities mean diabetics may not be able to use their CGMs (continuous glucose monitors). Without access to a charger for a phone or receiver, CGMs are inoperable. CGMs and blood glucose monitors are essential in preventing hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia for diabetics.
As a result, we set up a fund for Ukraine assistance and we were able to send over numerous CGMs, lancing devices, lancets, test-strips, back-up batteries, and other much-needed supplies for juvenile diabetics and their families in Ukraine. We will continue to stand by Ukraine and support children.
As our mission statement says, "No Child Fights Alone- Ever."
NCFA wants to thank everyone for coming out to our holiday event in December and supporting our mission to fund cure projects for childhood cancer and juvenile diabetes. Support like this helps us ensure that no child will ever have to fight alone. It was a fun-filled evening. Enjoy these pictures and we will see you at our next event!
We held our summer event during July, and it was a blast! There were numerous activities for families & children ensuring fun for the whole family!
The generated funds from this event will be used in funding vital projects in search of cures for juvenile diabetes and cancer- ensuring that no child will ever fight alone.
Our holiday event was held in late December and was a blast! The evening consisted of poker, raffles, silent auctions, and more. We look forward to making it an annual event.
The proceeds from this event were used to send gifts to children at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh! As a result, we were able to send over 100 gifts to children in the hospital battling diabetes and/or cancer.
As childhood cancer awareness month came to a close, we wanted to celebrate children who kicked cancer to the curb, so we challenged those on social media to walk, run, jog, or bike. The goal was five miles, in honor of local cancer survivor, Amelia Swisher, who recently reached five years cancer free.
We had numerous individuals participate, and for every person that participated, we made a donation to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, an organization that align with our goals and strives to improve the lives' of children across the nation.
